Job Description
Primary Function of Position
You will become a member of the da Vinci® Multiport Global Product Management team helping to lead and support multiple generations of platform solutions across their lifecycle. This is an individual contributor role and will report to a Managing Staff Product Manager. As an upstream strategic and product management expert, you will work with cross-functional partners to guide successful product launches and provide strategic expertise throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities for this role will be heavily focused on the strategies and implementation driving global roll out of Telesurgery based on careful analysis of user needs and business objectives. You will become a key development and design stage stakeholder and will be a global market expert helping to guide future portfolio strategy recommendations and budgeting. This role will include travel outside the United States.
Essential Job Duties
Responsibilities for this role will be focused on developing an understanding on global customer needs and use cases for telecollaboration, driving product requirements, gaining cross-functional alignment, and preparing for commercialization and launch.
In the first 12 months from start of employment, the essential job duties are:
- Grounded Frame of Reference: Success in this role will require dedication to learning about current Intuitive products, portfolio, and business processes. To do so, the role requires hands-on time, demonstrations, case observations, customer and key stakeholder interviews to build knowledge and grow a broader perspective.
- Global Market Needs: Consolidate and Segment key user needs across global markets for Telecollaboration in Robotics. Conduct global market research and consolidate global data sources to address gaps in market understanding. Responsible for driving platform level 5 year roadmap within the team based on global user needs.
- Requirements: Building on regional requirements and user needs, product requirements should balance feasibility, timeliness, and business needs as well. Responsible for Desirability of the Product, documented in Market and Product Requirements.
- Product Team Leadership: Acts as a leader and glue for engineering, clinical, human factors, UX, cyber, service, regulatory, and commercial partners. Requires strong communication and relationship building skills to align and help drive product and user experience.
- Work closely with the engineering development team to ensure key user needs are translated effectively to design requirements.
- Build alignment on the desired user experience. As new developments arise, work to quickly understand and pull the right stakeholders in to address.
- Based on initial market preparation for release and early release learnings from product use, develop the prioritized roadmap of feature additions for continued development and expansion into new market groups.
- Product Commercialization and Launch:
- Directly manage and be accountable for market introduction of a new Telecollaboration platform into an OUS market, supporting commercial education, marketing collateral development, commercial training, and transition to local commercial teams
- Support development of pricing and distribution guidelines
- Portfolio Strategy Support: Partner with other Product Managers to build point of view of portfolio fit and strategy amongst platform solutions.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated prior experience in essential job duties noted above
Required Education and Training
- Minimum Bachelors degree
- Minimum 4 years in a medical device role with 8 or more years cumulative professional experience
Working Conditions
- Global travel is required. Valid passport required.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- MBA or equivalent
- Engineering degree
- Extensive prior experience with leading, supporting or integrating networked products (example telehealth)
- Product Management experience in Medical Device Industry
- Professional engineering experience in highly regulated industry (example med device) preferred in software and/or hardware development

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target base compensation ranges are listed.
Base Compensation Range Region 1: $176.300 USD - $253.700 USD
Base Compensation Range Region 2: $149.900 USD - $215.600 USD
