Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

Multiport Process Engineering  Equipment Duplication and Support Technician  will be an integral member of Intuitive Surgical’s Advanced Processes and Automation team.  The ideal candidate will be highly capable and play a lead role in the group’s charter to duplicate and support manufacturing lines and equipment for high-volume manufacturing of Intuitive’s products.  Expertise with planning, managing outsourced builds, hands on final assembly, troubleshooting and testing of custom manufacturing equipment will be leveraged to ensure that new production lines are completed on time and budget, and continue to run without significant interruption.

Success in this role will depend on the ability to manage numerous concurrent equipment  projects while doing hands-on final assembly,  test and troubleshooting tasks of new and production equipment.  The technician will need to be able to access equipment documentation in Agile, and understand BOM structures, mechanical and electrical drawings and validation protocols.  The technician must be committed to maintaining equipment quality and our team’s performance standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work with information from Agile, SAP, drawings, and a worldwide manufacturing team to determine requirements for new equipment, spare parts, and manufacturing line installations.
  • Align with the team on make/buy decisions, supplier selection, scope of RFQs, and manage purchase orders  to support your project’s budget and schedule.
  • Assemble and test new equipment to ensure it will pass a formal validation, including mechanical, electrical and pneumatic component assembly and integration.
  • Manage contract manufacturers and support them with documentation, technical questions and change implementations
  • Physically manage receipt and storage of materials as they arrive
  • Arrange packaging, logistics and customs paperwork for international and local  shipping of small parts and large systems,
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues during bring up and on the manufacturing lines. Document repairs in Equipment Events
  • Join cross-functional team projects focused on new equipment development and duplication projects to ensure documentation meets our needs.
  • Work with engineering to improve documentation of EFTs and our processes.

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • Experience in planning, ordering, assembling, validating, and supporting medical device manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong skills with managing  materials for projects  using large excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure project requirements are understood and commitments are met.
  • Experience with the business side of medical capital equipment
  • Experience with assembly, functional testing and troubleshooting of complex electromechanical equipment.
  • “Self-starter” attitude and comfort in a hands-on environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Minimum Education: Associate (2 year) degree or equivalent training and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience with medical device equipment or manufacturing equipment and managing associated projects.    
  • Travel to support contract manufacturers and other intuitive sites 25%

business need and/or on the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge and skills.
Compensation will be based primarily on the job level at which the role is filled and the
candidate’s qualifications, consistent with applicable law.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target compensation ranges are listed.

Base Compensation Range Region 1: $44 USD - $59 USD
Base Compensation Range Region 2: $37 USD - $50 USD
Shift: Day
Workplace Type: Onsite - This job is fully onsite.
