Company Description
It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.
We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.
The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.
If you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here.
Job Description
Primary Function of Position
You will become a member of the da Vinci® Multiport Global Product Management team, owning the software and computational architecture that powers our next generation of platform solutions across their lifecycle. This is an individual contributor role and will report to a Group Product Manager. As an upstream strategic and product management expert, you will own the development and launch of a new, scalable hardware/software pipeline—the first of its kind for the platform—and partner with cross-functional teams to guide it from early architecture through commercialization. You will translate software and algorithm needs into a coherent compute architecture roadmap, balancing conflicting needs across different product owners. You will become a key development and design stage stakeholder for multiple projects and will be a global system portfolio expert helping to guide future portfolio strategy recommendations and budgeting.
Essential Job Duties
In the first 12 months from start of employment, the essential job duties are:
- Proactively solicit and aggregate the platform software and computational needs to support the future platform roadmap. Create the aligned software and compute system architecture roadmap via detailed benefit and feasibility trade-off process, then ensure aligned multiport BU proposal to Exec leadership
- Document and map a comprehensive view of demands for compute along with tradeoffs and understand key strategic points of view from each major stakeholder
- Manage an iterative process with stakeholder teams to prioritize product development proposals that align with short and long term dV5 global strategy and other prioritized product roadmaps/strategies
- Translate software and algorithm needs into their compute, deployment, and integration requirements, and serve as a key integrator with the Multiport hardware engineering team, managing integration of the software/compute stack and physical hardware into the platform architecture
- Liaison with AI & Machine learning product teams within Multiport, Strategy, and Digital business units. Conduct diligence for each product proposal and support viability creation and lead evidence generation if more data needed. Present to Multiport leadership at quarterly cadence.
- Lead Product Manager on human/machine interface workstream in 2027 and subsequent development support
