Job Description

Primary Function of Position

Equipment technicians are responsible for directly supporting and improving manufacturing lines to meet production goals.  Typical activities include operating, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment including complex automation.  Duties include working in different disciplines, such as electrical, mechanical and computer engineering. The equipment technician’s work pattern will mirror production shift schedules.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform first-response troubleshooting to correct equipment and process issues with objective to maximize line uptime.
  • Apply experience and knowledge to optimize equipment for continuously improve maintainability, reliability, and availability of equipment.
  • Participate in Safety commission when required and/or safety training.
  • Escalates any safety issues with supervisor or manager.
  • Follows 5S methodology on his areas.
  • Escalates excessive consumption of spare parts.
  • Reports any safety device on equipment that is faulty or is suspicious of been damaged.
  • Perform installation, repair and upkeep services for a variety of equipment in the fields of mechanics and electronics.
  • Carry out routine scheduled equipment service and maintenance.
  • Complete formal documentation (in SAP) regarding equipment events:   Issue owner assigned (IOA), Assess Risk to parts Made prior to Event (PDSP) tasks under Equipment Event (EE) process. (Engineer will perform final approval).
  • Gather and communicate data on main offenders and provide feedback to Equipment Engineer and/or Supervisor to make improvements for better machine performance.
  • Communicate and assist engineering team to inform, prioritize, plan and implement required improvements.
  • Assist engineering in testing and evaluating equipment updates.
  • Seek better and more suitable technologies for improving production processes.
  • Assisting equipment engineers in performing qualification activities (IQOQPQ) when required.
  • Dealing with emergency/unscheduled problems and repairs of equipment.
  • Ensure continuous line-side coverage of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.
  • Update Min/Max quantities for critical spare parts as needed.
  • Train set up technicians as required.
  • Assembling new equipment and fixtures.
  • Replace faulty components in machinery or equipment according to documentation or engineering instructions.
  • Submit purchase orders of spare parts.
  • Shipping of equipment to vendors for failure analysis and/or repair.
  • Assembly of 3D printed parts.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • English 30% read, written and spoken.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electronics aptitude.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting electronic/mechanical equipment.
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation is a must.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of special mechanical, electronics and measuring equipment.
  • CAD proficiency preferable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Experience in installation, setup and operation of computers.
  • Experience in Mechanical fixtures and tools, such as presses, tools, thread extractors, calipers, micrometers, hand and power tools.
  • Experience in Pneumatics, knowledge of electro valves, cylinders, gauges, pneumatic connections.
  • Experience in Electronics, knowledge of basic components like relays, resistors, capacitors, sensors and electronic measurement tools such as multimeter, soldering iron, soldering extractor, crimpers.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum Technical certificate in Technical Electronics, Mechanics or similar.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics or equivalent engineering field is a plus.
  • Travel: Not required but raining travel can be required due to new projects (5%).

Working Conditions

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Medical company is desirable to have.
  • Experience in troubleshooting of Automated equipment or PLC based is a plus
