Job Description

Primary Function of Position

Under general supervision of the Import/Export Manager, the Traffic Analyst is responsible to execute international shipments, inbound and outbound, of merchandise under customs regulations from Mexico and other applicable countries. Traffic Analyst works with customs brokers, carriers and other logistic service providers to coordinate International shipments.

Essential Job Duties

  • Request the Part number registration and/or changes on customs inventory systems according to business requirements.
  • Request information to update the Bill of Material (BOM), requesting information.
  • Create and review international documents required for shipments.
  • Escalation and follows up of any customs request and inquiry.
  • Support maintaining recordkeeping.
  • Operates under guidelines associated with duties and taxes and freight forwarder expenses.
  • Keep destination internal and external customers informed regarding their shipments.
  • Responsible of virtual operations.
  • Collect the necessary information to request the HS Code for the goods.
  • Create documentation to clear Customs, such as but not limited to commercial invoice, Packing list.
  • Verify information is accurate on International Documents regarding Country of origin, value, HS Code, description.
  • Coordinates Logistics providers (Broker, carrier, and freight forwarder, etc.) to clear customs.
  • Confirm accurate information on documents when free trade agreements, duty preference programs and others apply.
  • Responsible of scrap shipments (Outbound).
  • Coordinates and follow up shipments up to its destination.
  • Responsible of Inventory at 3PL's location.
  • Perform ERP transactions for shipments or according to business necessities if required.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of current systems and processes.
  • Coordinates activities related to expedited shipments, documentation, and regulations.
  • Communicate status to internal and external customers from logistics operation.
  • Creates, Updates and analyzes different import export reports.
  • Train new team members or current crew on processes.
  • Support to create operative plans.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Intermediate skills on Excel/ Microsoft Office application.​
  • Intermediate to Advanced English (verbal and written communication).
  • Advance experience and knowledge:​
    • Customs Legal Frame applied to areas such as: Regimen Customs operations- General Rules of Foreign Trade- Customs operations (virtual / definitive, temporary).​
    • Requirements from record keeping.​
    • Reports and data Analysis from Customs Inventory System (Annex 24).​
    • Managing and identify different kind of scrap. (Export).​
    • Customs clearance and International logistics/ Transportation.​
    • Execute 4 or more from follow operations: Equipment, Spares, Raw materials, FG(different kind), Scrap, others.​
    • Using IT Tools for consult HTS codes and Customs regulations.​
    • FDA & COFEPRIS Controls & Sanctions regulations.​
    • Coordinate service provider and solve issues.​
    • Solve customs request and inquiries.​
    • Equipment inventory and tracking.​
    • Represent as SME the IMPORT- EXPORT team.​
  • Intermediate knowledge:​
    • VAT Certification and AEO/CTPAT certifications.​
    • HTS rules and classification.

Required Education and Training

  • 5+ Years of experience related experience on Customs and Trade Compliance.
  • ​Bachelor's degree: Foreign Trade, Customs, Logistics, Law, International Business or similar.
