Description

Joining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and 
decreasing surgical invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority. 

Primary Function of Position:

Provide leadership, technical and administrative mentoring across interdepartmental boundaries as related to spare parts support of minimally invasive robotic surgical equipment support.  This key management role will be challenged to effectively lead the Logistics Department resources required to support business growth demands and support installed equipment in the field by managing the fulfillment of global OUS distribution centers and distributors with inventory to fulfill local market sales demand.  Proven experience achieving results through others and managing a wide range of individuals required.  Track record in a medium to large-scale medical device distribution preferable.

 
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead, motivate and mentor Logistics team responsible for outbound shipments to OUS distribution centers and customers via all modes of transport.
  • Select, evaluate and manage storage locations for global supply and demand
  • Set up monitoring and reporting system providing detailed shipment information
  • Foster and maintain relationships with all OUS distribution center managers/leads and planning teams, driving process improvements, KPI measurements/metrics and cost reductions.
  • Review and report on global transportation trends and opportunities relating to cost, restrictions, weather and congestion to ensure material flow optimization and continuity of supply
  • Track and manage First Pass Fill Rate performance for all OUS distribution centers
  • Monitor performance of 3PL providers including on time shipments, shipment cost and overall performance
  • Must be skilled at project management, continuous improvement and lean logistics initiatives
  • Oversee overall health of supply chain to OUS Distribution Centers
  • Maintain inventory integrity through all distribution points, working with Distribution Planning and OUS Distribution Partners
  • Manage global replenishment fulfillment for 3PL infrastructure to ensure customer satisfaction levels are maintained at the highest possible levels (i.e. user requests, order management, warehousing management, distribution services)
  • Source and maintain business tools / training to facilitate OUS Distribution Center and Distributor communications related to servicing activities
  • Actively participate on cross-functional teams as a Services representative to drive department and organization needs
  • Develop and maintain effective measurements to monitor progress and evaluate opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain department operating procedures (DOPs) and work instructions. Perform other projects or duties that may be assigned

Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:

(Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience.) In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must have:

  • Managerial experience 8 to 10 years, proven leadership and motivational skills
  • Bachelor degree and  8 to 10 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of Finished Goods Logistics, Inbound Supply Chain, Customer Service, Production Planning, Materials management, Warehouse Management, Resource Planning and Quality & Regulatory Affairs operational and informational needs
  • Previous work experience with a medical equipment manufacturer is desirable
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing practices is desirable
  • Understanding of Business Information Systems (i.e. SAP, Agile) and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Able to work independently in a fast paced environment with little supervision
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills
