Description

Joining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and decreasing surgical invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for EMEIA trade compliance programs and continuous improvements

  • Ensure Company’s compliance with export/import laws for Direct and Indirect Markets
  • Review and develop enhancements to Company’s existing trade compliance program;

  • Develop, maintain and update documented internal controls and desk operating procedures over trade compliance matters;

  • Enhance post shipment import/export audit program and KPI development/management

  • Evaluate opportunities to facilitate trade in a cost-effective and compliant manner (e.g., make use of applicable free trade agreements, trade preference programs, etc.);

  • Provide strategic guidance on the incorporation of trade compliance requirements into the Company’s business processes;

  • Interact with trade-related government agencies within EMEIA and abroad;

  • Provide compliance training to Company personnel as needed;

  • Oversee freight forwarders’ and other vendors’ compliance with export/import rules;

  • Field all trade compliance questions from employees of the Company;

  • Develop and oversee duty management program and compliance with FTAs and other duty preferential programs

 

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

 

  • 15+ years of international trade experience, focusing primarily on customs and trade

  • 5+ years of experience leading a team or trade compliance program

  • Experience interfacing directly with customs and partner government agency authorities on a regular basis, including responding to government inquiries and audits

  • BA / BS degree or equivalent required; MA in relevant field (e.g., international policy, international business) or evidence of exceptional ability and/or experience

  • Working knowledge of tariff classification, free trade agreements, and medical device regulations strongly preferred

  • Detail oriented and highly organized with ability to multi-task, including a demonstrated ability to drive decision-making in a fast-paced environment with on-demand requests

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver novel and practical solutions to solve complex supply chain / logistics issues

  • Ability to drive complex, cross-functional projects including setting scope, reaching consensus, executing on tasks, and presenting results.

  • Ability to write, speak, and present effectively and persuasively at all levels.

  • Experienced with MS Office, including knowledge of Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Working knowledge of SAP and experience with implementing (or at a minimum utilizing) databases and enterprise resource planning (“ERP”) global trade automation solutions.

  • Some business travel (~20%) will be required
