Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for the vision and architecture for a comprehensive simulation platform for our surgical robot.
• You will implement our simulation, record and replay testing frameworks
• You will demonstrate strong indirect leadership of multidisciplinary design teams to develop a common strategy and incorporate the pre-existing work of other talented engineers into a well-thought-out single simulator solution
• You will craft a reliable, sophisticated simulation tools for surgical robotic software development, benchmarking, and testing.
• You will build a custom virtual world used by multiple teams daily, and accelerate the development of our software on many fronts (Development, Training, Support, Manufacturing).
• Work closely with platform engineering and roboticists on multiple robotic platforms to enable real time communication and feedback Optimize the performance of the simulations
• You will work with our SWE in Test and system engineers to implement new features and improve the usability of our tools
• You will help integrate your simulator with tools to test and validate robot performance and behavior before they are used in operating rooms worldwide.
• Your simulator will enable us to automatically ensure our safety algorithms and overall reliability haven't regressed.
Qualifications

Requirements:

• Experience writing production code in Python and C++
• Experience designing and deploying complex systems
• BS, MS or PhD in CS, Math, Physics, or equivalent real-world experience Passion for working on systems that help people
• Attention to detail and a passion for correctness

About our Productivity and Reliability Team

We are small group looking for strong technical leads that want an opportunity to move fast and help with building our core robotic simulation platform that will enable the broader development team to create better products for our patients. This is a new group at the company and our mandate is to promote significant change that will improve the productivity and reliability of our engineering teams and products. The team is also responsible for building a resilient, performant, and secure internal platform which hosts our core back-end services to control our builds, test automation platform, system simulation, engineering data pipelines, and storage for our surgical robotics engineering group. We have the potential to overlap with many teams and as such emphasize tearing down organizational silos and a strong culture of collaboration. Nothing is taboo. If you see a high-leverage solution to a long-standing problem, tear it all down and build the right solution provided you have the will and a good plan to execute!
