Primary Function of Position:
Lead all aspects of Materials activities including but not limited to strategies, tactics and team execution. Including master scheduling, purchasing, planning, supplier selection and sourcing, supplier contracts, negotiation and warehouse management as well as other related duties and other assignments. Sources suppliers, quotes, plans, buys, inventories, reduces material costs and oversee warehouse as well as supplier relationships, negotiation and development
Roles and Responsibilities:
This position has responsibility and authority for:
• Supplier Sourcing: Find, collaborate internally, audit, develop, manage relationship, for new suppliers as needed by the business including for cost reductions. Identify sources for components, visits suppliers, make recommendations for supplier selection.• Manage and maintain supplier relationships to achieve positive outcomes as needed by the business• Orchestrate no less than quarterly master schedule demand updates collaborating with cross functional groups to manage all internal and external demand.• Lead and manage all purchasing, planning, warehouse operations and all strategic, tactical and execution activities associated as well as• Hire, develop and lead a team, in collaboration with other organizations, to advance products from concept to production, with responsibilities including:
o Establish group and individual objectives, priorities, and metrics to:o Ensure fulfillment of product development goalso Ensure the professional development of individual team memberso Ensure schedule is achieved
Qualifications• Create and implements metrics to track goals for purchasing, planning and warehouse supporting the groups as well as company goals.• Thorough master scheduling, forecasting, build plans and planning to ensure that optimal inventory levels of components are maintained to meet production requirements.• Work with cross-functional teams as needed to support and implement group goals.• Participate in the continuous improvement of current systems and processes• Addresses all supplier issues including but not limited to supplier relationships, contracts, pricing, capacity, quality problems and supplier development.• Ensures supply chain is stable per multiyear growth plans• Provides and leads material cost opportunities both plans and execution. Is capable of addressing cost model issues, and keeping contract manufactures competitive• Manage supplier on-time delivery and quality performance• Responsible for ECO material planning for components, and setting effectivity dates that minimize line down risk and excess inventory• Lead and assist in the transfer from NPI Purchasing to Production Purchasing• Manages ERP and Agile system as needed to support all materials activities• Streamlines supply chain, and reduce supplier lead-times• Manages supplier relationships• Negotiate and settles all needed supplier contracts and supplier issues.• Other related activities relating to leading and managing a materials group not indicated above• Travel to suppliers and other related activities up to 35%
Competency Requirements: (Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience). In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must:
• BS preferred, and minimum 10 years of experience in materials management preferably with a medical device company.• Proven ability to coach, guide, and development individuals and teams• Significant computer experience including MS Office products and ERP systems, preferably SAP and Agile.• Experience working with plastics injection molding, machining, MIM, cables, packaging, PCA, contract manufacturing, and OEM suppliers• Project Management, new product introduction skills• NPI to Production material transfer knowledge• Cost negotiation skills, knowledge of RFP model versus RFQ• Detailed working knowledge of buying, material planning, and forecasting.• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects successfully.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• In depth knowledge of purchasing processes.• Experience in a high volume ECO environment.• MS Office skills ( MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)• Excel ( Vlookups, Pivot Tables, Charts, and filtering)
