Eligibility:

Must be concurrently enrolled in a degree-seeking program with an accredited university or enrolled in an upcoming program in the fall.

Primary Function of Position:

We are seeking an intern to work on one or more analysis projects to extract actionable insights from data and help Intuitive Surgical make better-informed decisions. You will analyze data generated by our fleet of over 4,000 da Vinci surgical robots deployed in hospitals worldwide and/or other operational data to identify correlations, trends and other significant patterns.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in applying Deep Learning for classification and prediction, while also strongly fluent with other techniques that are suitable for problems where less data are available.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Write programs/scripts to process data from relational databases and other sources
• Build analytic models that describe, explain or predict results
• Document and communicate findings to peers and key stakeholders
Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:

• Practical knowledge of data analysis and Machine Learning techniques. You should be comfortable working on problems with no immediate solutions on sight, requiring you to try out multiple techniques with minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of NLP for extracting concepts from text
• Ability to use tools such as Scikit-Learn, Tensorflow, Keras, etc.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Bayesian inference, statistical techniques, anomaly detection
• Proficiency in Python or similar language, writing SQL queries

Learning Outcomes:

• Apply data analysis and Machine Learning techniques in real-world applications
• Learn how to make sense of machine-generated data to infer higher-level behaviors
• Gain experience working with various stakeholders in a leading-edge company and deliver solutions that matter

Commitment: 

Must be available to work full-time hours, M-F for 10-12 weeks beginning Summer of 2019.
