Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
Our team is growing! To be able to support our business in the region, we are looking to hire EMEIA Logistics Compliance Analyst. You will ensure compliance and consistency with Intuitive Surgical policies, processes and regulatory requirements within the import and export operations. You will lead logistics compliance improvement projects for the region and join in the goal to continue to do great things together! Are you up for the challenge.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- High working knowledge of international import/export operations and must be able to effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international trade and transportation.
- Responsible for customs and trade operations support in EMEIA locations.
- Develop strategies and actionable plans to support compliant and efficient international movement of products and services through partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Engages with internal stakeholders to provide consultation and guidance in managing their compliance obligations.
- Create and maintain the recordkeeping master file.
- Reconcile the recordkeeping for completeness. Follow up with the internal and external stakeholder if required.
- Audit and manage import and export recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance with Corporate policy and regulations of all government agencies.
- Audit documents to ensure import/ export shipments utilize the correct information on the shipping and entry documentation.
- Perform pre- or post-entry audits related to entry declaration, forwarders/ brokers, other logistics service providers and suppliers. Follow up with appropriate corrective action and make corrections when non-compliance is identified. Responsible for Post Entry Amendment program.
- Publish the Key Performance indicator (KPI).
- Participate in the broker review. Identify and drive process improvement.
- Assist with special projects including country of origin, HTS classification for new product launch.
- Collect, compile, and analyze data and provide summaries and observations to the manager.
- Performs other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned.
- Knowledge of product classification processes under the HTS, country of origin determination, trade agreements & ECCN classification.
- Understanding of current events and changing political landscapes and their impact on trade compliance and the supply chain.
- Proficiency in data gathering, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and linking business
- Support manual creation of shipping documentation.
- Provide training to other functional groups on import and/ or export requirements.
- Provide support and guidance to internal and external customers for import / export shipments including hand carry and carnet shipments.
- Interact with IT and Center of Excellence (COE) to streamline and improve import/ export data for compliance; provide justification, business requirements, development, and assist with testing and solutions implementation.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in trade & customs compliance experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in international trade or similar.
- Licensed Customs Broker or similar professional trade certifications.
- Proficient in English and Bulgaria language – verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Direct experience and knowledge of Trade Compliance principles (customs valuation, incoterms, license and permits, country of origin, HTS/ ECCN classifications, duty optimization / Free Trade Agreements, export controls and sanctions etc.)
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, other government agencies importing regulations, EAR & Census Trade requirements.
- Experience managing Logistics Service Providers and/or Compliance Consultants.
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving.
- Ability to multi-task with strong prioritization skills to effectively manage workload.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work in a team environment.
- Work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite (excel, word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Demonstrated ability to deliver creative and practical solutions to solve logistics and trade compliance issues.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Some business travel (~20%) will be required.
- Ability to manage multiple cross-functional and cross-organizational projects.
- Harmonized tariff classification working knowledge must have.
- Good understanding of Export control, Sanction & DPL screening.
- Customs broker certificate.
- Willingness to learn the substance of the work associated with the Global Logistics Compliance to provide superior support.
- Work experience with customs brokers or freight forwarders.
- Experience in SAP S4/ HANA and related transactional and outputs are preferred but not mandatory.
- Eager to learn and perform other tasks, which needs to be run the regions smoothly.
- Understanding and experience with the medical device industry.
