Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The Lab Engineer for Optical Characterization has a deep knowledge in technical optics and is experience in analyzing and characterizing complex optical systems. The candidate is responsible for the development of optical measurement equipment for the lab and support other teams by developing measurement equipment for the production. He/She identifies new optical technologies to improve vison possibilities for minimally invasive robot-assisted surgery.
Essential Job Duties
- Develops and validates new measurement methods for optical laboratory setups.
- Analyze and validate new endoscopic systems.
- Support development of optical and opto-electrical tests to qualify and verify quality and performance of micro-optical systems together with international partners (external and internal).
- Must be able to communicate effectively and accurately (written and oral) across all levels and functions, including presenting to a technical audience.
- Identify new optical technologies.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- ME/MS with a minimum of 3 years, or BE or BS with a minimum of 5 years work experience. Optical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering or equivalent, professional work experience in designing of optical and opto-electrical products, preferred in the medical-field
- Deep knowledge in technical optics.
- Profound knowledge in characterization methods of complex optical systems.
- Programming experience for scientific environments.
- Thinking outside the box, coming up with unconventional ideas.
- Work well in a multi-cultural team environment, including team members in remote locations.
- Excellent documentation and technical skills and the ability to communicate in German and English at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience with optical simulation software e.g. LightTools, Zemax, ….
