Job Description

Primary Functions of the Role:

The Sr. Director, Employees Relations (ER) will shape the employee relations function within our HR organization to ensure a fair and supportive workplace that is consistent with Intuitive’s values. The Sr. Director of ER will lead a team and establish and oversee global ER practices to minimize operational and organizational risk through best-in-class ER standards. The Sr. Director, ER will assess the employee relations climate, providing an objective and balanced approach to employee relations issues, while demonstrating a sensitivity to employee complaints balanced with management’s performance expectations. The Sr. Director, ER will partner with HR Business Partners and legal to identify and address high-risk employee related issues and escalations. This leader will partner with, and proactively engage, Stakeholders to influence and advise on strategic issues to improve employee and manager interactions and enhancing the overall employee experience.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting and developing a team of ER & compliance professionals.
  • Ensure that the ER team is trained and skilled to perform their roles successfully and support organizational effectives of the COE
  • Provides work guidance to staff in reaching timely consensus on complex issues and developing solutions to problems presented.
  • Designing and conducting positive employee relations trainings and other capability building initiatives
  • Develop ER Metrics and trend investigation with proactive recommendations and programs to address cases, trends, or topics
  • Implementation of case management tracking for ER cases, including completing in a timely, but thorough manner and case entry/tracking
  • Contribute to various HR Projects and guide project team in adhering to data and process compliance.
  • Help create global HR policies compliant with local laws like ADA, ADEA, FMLA, OSHA, FLSA, EEOC, and Privacy Regulations. Include laws outside the U.S.
  • Partner with Global HR Compliance Manager to audit HR policies, employment agreements, and employee handbooks at global sites for legal compliance. Check proprietary and confidentiality agreements also.
  • Support and guide ER specialist. Offer necessary training and education.
  • Develop and manage internal investigations process including establishing norms on proper plan and for investigations, interviews to findings delivery
  • Partner with the Legal team for issue escalation and training of team members in conducting thorough investigations.
  • Provide critical input to the formation, consistent application, and revision of company policies based on investigation findings and recommendations.
  • Manage the evolution of managing internal allegations, claims, and employee relations investigations by improving framework tools and guides.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Leaders and employment counsel on crucial employee relations matters.
  • M&A support (synergies, policy harmonization, etc.), as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of global employment laws, regulations, and statutes, such as GDPR, Data Privacy, FLSA, EPA, and FMLA, is essential.
  • Experience designing and administering scalable compliance related processes and programs
  • Deep expertise in employee relations investigations, provide a customer-first approach to work, and thrive in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Proven demonstrated leadership experience; proven experience with building a team and developing others
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects with exceptional time management and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to manage conflict/challenge thinking
  • Proven business acumen, exceptional decision-making, and root cause\/research skills
  • Demonstrated consultative/credibility assessment skills
  • Demonstrated proven written\/verbal communication and facilitation\/presentation skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and intuitive sense of business acumen
  • Exceptional self-initiative and prioritizing abilities; comfort with ambiguity and change
  • Ability to execute tasks with attention to detail, reliability, and a relatively quick pace
  • Ability to interface and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results
  • Ability to proactively share a point of view, appropriately challenge assumptions, and take initiative.
  • Ability to work well with others, manage effectively, and make informed recommendations while keeping everyone updated.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $248,000 USD - $372,000 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $210,800 USD - $316,200 USD
Shift: Day
Travel: 25% of the time
Workplace Type: Set Schedule - This job will be onsite weekly, the percentage of onsite work will be defined by the leader.
