Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The Director, Commercial Learning will manage a team of managers and individual contributors to execute onboarding and integration training as well as improve sales execution of the US commercial team. They will identify and drive organizational focus towards teaching and coaching high-impact sales behaviors while supervising the development and execution of all training efforts. The Director, Commercial Learning will partner with the Commercial Leadership team to create a training strategy to address the onboarding needs of the Commercial Learners within the US Region.
Roles and Responsibilities
Leadership
- Skillfully employs Situational Leadership to help team achieve and regularly exceed assigned goals targets.
- Drives partnership among the Global Commercial Enablement teams.
- Develops exceptional relationships across the organization through consistent use of sophisticated communication.
- Coaches, trains, and develops employees to take on leadership roles on the Global Commercial Enablement team and in other functions at Intuitive.
- Stretches and utilizes team members to their fullest potential.
- Teaches and coaches managers how to create and adhere to employee development plans.
- Models ISI Individual & Leadership Expectations; influences and mentors subordinates and counterparts in the development of these traits
Functional Skills
- Guides a team of people managers and individual contributor roles.
- Oversees the hiring and development of trainers and managers that possess the requisite clinical and technical knowledge to meet or exceed departmental goals.
- Manages to and adheres to the processes and standards within Commercial Learning, including following
- Identifies and drives organizational focus towards teaching and coaching high-impact sales behaviors.
- Supervises the development and execution of all onboarding and integration training efforts.
- Shapes and influences the strategic focus of US Annual Commercial Meetings.
- Collaborates with regional managers as the face of onboarding and integration.
- Engages new cross-functional stakeholders to collaborate in the design of new and innovative learning experiences.
Strategic Skills
- Drives strategic planning and execution for the US Commercial Learning team over 1-3 years.
- Effectively takes a short and long-term approach to achieving results.
- Frequently leverages knowledge and relationships to create opportunities to improve business results through training.

- Optimizes team and organizational structure to meet business and stakeholder needs.
- Oversees hiring of all US Commercial Learning professionals based in Atlanta.
- Participates in professional training organizations to learn best practices; brings new and innovative techniques and processes to Intuitive.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience leading a sales training or learning & development team at a medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology company.
- Minimum 8+ years of corporate training experience required, preferably in medical device.
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Master’s Degree a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, fluency in English.
- 30% travel; primarily domestic

Base Salary Range Region 1: $194,500 USD - $291,700 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $175,000 USD - $262,600 USD
Shift: Day
Travel: 25% of the time
Workplace Type: Set Schedule - This job will be onsite weekly, the percentage of onsite work will be defined by the leader.
