Job Description

Primary Function of Position

We are looking for a talented individual to join our growing Reliability Engineering team focused on engineering lab activities. This role has the opportunity to work creatively with a multidisciplinary team, including SW, FW, SA, EE in addition to the reliability and mechanical engineers.

The primary function of this position is to be the point-of-contact for reliability engineering lab activities. This includes conducting automated and semi-automated system/subsystems reliability testing, assembly of test fixtures, and the ownership of environmental chamber lab. The successful candidate must have a proven curiosity for how system/equipment works, also be involved with data acquisition concepts and hardware.

The ideal candidate must have a proven track-record in a lab environment and extreme curiosity of the unexplored or unexplained. This person will need great attention to details, no fear of incomplete/developing specification and design documents, and most importantly, a passion to learn new things with/from Senior team members.

Essential Job Duties

The reliability engineer role will be a contributor in engineering labs. A successful candidate will be able to work autonomously on certain tasks as well as supporting engineering activities at a broader scope with senior team members.

  • Be the point-of-contact for reliability lab related services, including but not limited to thermal chamber operation, equipment calibration, maintenance and scheduling.
  • Affiliate mechanical fixture design, manufacturing and installation with senior team members.
  • Assist reliability test execution and monitoring.
  • Manage lab equipment, identify opportunities and bring up new lab functionality.
  • Plan and execute accelerated and highly accelerated life tests for components and subsystems, this may include critical accessories and instruments.
  • Provide written protocols, reports, and presentations and perform reliability test reviews to solicit feedback on design activities.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in using SolidWorks 3D CAD to design parts and assemblies.
  • Aptitude in mechatronics prototyping with 3D printing, machining, PCBs and other electrical components.
  • Proven experience with data acquisition tools and techniques, for measuring electrical and physical phenomenon such as voltage, current, torque, force, pressure, or sounds.
  • Experience with NI DAQs or similar platforms for PC-based control and automation.
  • Excellent organizational skills; Able to manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional documentation/communication skills.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in mechanical, mechatronics, reliability engineering or other related engineering disciplines with direct 0-2 years of industrial experience. Masters preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit and stand for lab work as needed.
  • Ability to maneuver into spaces around robotic systems.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience with motorized fixtures.
  • Understanding of statistics, reliability, life test and failure analysis.
  • Experience in failure analysis.
  • Experience with data analysis (SQL, python, excel).
  • Skilled in at least one programming language (e.g. Python/Matlab).
  • Design validation skills- 2D/3D statistical tolerance analysis techniques, numerical research, computer-aided simulations., mechanical drawing composition (functional dimensioning (GD&T)).

Base Salary Range Region 1: $102,400 USD - $138,600 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $87,000 USD - $117,800 USD

Travel: 10% of the time
