Job Description
Primary Function of Position
We are looking for an earnest and responsible Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Intuitive, you will create and enforce a culture of safety within our organization.
The EHS Specialist will work with local process owners and business partners. They will ensure the site meets requirements. Additionally, they will assess, document, and address changes impacting the environment and safety for employees and operations.
Essential Job Duties
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legal rules and regulations
- Educate and oversee employees on health and safety procedures and regulations
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations and job hazard assessments to identify risk
- Partner with stakeholders, including Engineering and Manufacturing Operations to mitigate risk
- Conduct employee safety trainings
- Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials and supplies
- Track the number of incidents and produce reports
- Conduct root causes analyses and share lessons learned across business units
- Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals
- Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5years management system experience, ideally in the medical device industry or with EH&S
- Influential personality with exceptional interpersonal, exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional administrative and record keeping skills
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or other management systems, such as ISO 45001
- Exceptional knowledge of local, state, national, and international laws on environmental protection and employee health and safety.
- Proven track record of providing training support to employees
- Ability to exercise autonomous judgment within a broad range of policies and practices. This includes systematic problem solving.
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including action oriented, focused urgency and driving for results
- Ability to be effective in complex projects with ambiguity and/or rapid change
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize and schedule work to meet business needs
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with others in team environment; effective interactions in cross department teams
- Computer literacy (PC, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with Agile a plus
- Detail orientated, with emphasis on accuracy and completeness
- An ability to travel up to 10%
- Proficient in English and the site's local language(s)
Required Education and Training
- A college degree in science or engineering is preferred. Equivalent training or experience is also acceptable. This may include work with Environmental Management Systems or other Management Systems.
- Professional certification such Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE); or equivalent preferred
Workplace Type: This role requires working onsite in our Sunnyvale, CA office 4 days every week

Base Salary Range Region 1: $104,700 USD - $150,700 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $89,000 USD - $128,000 USD

Travel: 10% of the time
Workplace Type: Set Schedule - This job will be onsite weekly, the percentage of onsite work will be defined by the leader.
