Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
You will manage da Vinci® Multiport across the entire product lifecycle. You will develop and conduct market and user research, make product proposals, write product requirements and lead the product through development and design stages. You will work with product marketing to ensure a successful launch and provide expertise throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will partner with the design and engineering teams along with other internal stakeholders throughout the entire product lifecycle process to ensure successful product launch and adoption.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Build and leverage product management skillsets to manage the existing da Vinci portfolio of instruments and accessories, advanced technology including advanced energy, stapling, fluorescence imaging and single-site technology
- Develop a deep understanding of the surgical treatments for applicable indications, including monitoring and consuming clinical literature, attending medical society meetings, engaging with physician key opinion leaders (KOLs), and observing live robotic cases. Will require both domestic and international travel.
- Use qualitative and quantitative market research methods and direct customer interviews and observations to develop insights that inform the product roadmap. Develop the business justification for new products and features by working with customers and company stakeholders. Develop business analyses, including competitive assessments, to facilitate sound data-driven decision making.
- Create and own one or more product profiles, including development of key financial modeling, forecasting, and market impact analysis. Develop the business justification for new products and features by working with customers and company stakeholders
- Represent product management in the product development process, complete deliverables such as market requirements and product requirements documents and facilitate tradeoff discussions with design teams while keeping the needs of the customer and the business in mind.
- Work cooperatively with global product marketing partners, sales (clinical and capital sales), training and key surgeon champions to successfully grow the utilization of da Vinci technology
- Lead new product commercialization through cooperative work with global marketing, field sales and cross-functional teams and maintain a front-line presence for the customer experience, assisting sales with critical troubleshooting and raising trending product performance issues
- Maintain forecasts and work closely with Logistics and Customer Service to ensure continuous product availability
- Plan and execute product marketing portions of tradeshows, working collaboratively with marketing communications and clinical marketing. Includes attending key tradeshows and conferences to assist with product demonstrations and market research
- Define and measure product success by monitoring product adoption and seeking post-launch product feedback.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 5 years in a medical device marketing role and 10 or more years cumulative professional experience in product management, marketing, engineering, sales, or business development.
- Excellent teamwork skills with proven ability to manage indirectly across multiple disciplines to ensure product success and ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. This includes the ability to lead in bridging communication between engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customers.
- Humble nature, willingness to work under pressure, and ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner. Gets the job done and constantly learning.
- Presentation skills to internal & external audiences including leaders at the VP level. Strong Powerpoint and MS Office product suite or equivalent modality skillset. Moderate experience or knowledge with Mural, Tableau, and Agile
- Self-directed with awareness to proactively develop professional skills, seek advice when needed, and mentor others when gaps found in team member experience levels
- Quantitative mindset, proven ability to investigate open-ended problems and work cross-functionally to implement initiatives
