Job Description

Duplicate, evaluate, inspect, maintain, repair, design, analyze, and improve pioneering manufacturing equipment used to produce minimally invasive medical devices. This manufacturing equipment will range in complexity from custom manual fixtures to automated electromechanical systems, integrating functions such as electronic sensing, motion control, and machine vision.  This position will play a critical role in developing cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities to enable the future of minimally invasive surgery.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, bring up, and test manufacturing equipment in preparation for successful qualification and operation.
  • Perform qualification and validation on manufacturing equipment according to company procedures.
  • Understand the requirements for, and manage the operation of, other manufacturing equipment which can be designed and fabricated by the equipment design team.
  • Execute maintenance and startup of equipment when applicable.
  • Provide equipment-related technical support to ongoing production operations.
  • Document and close equipment Downtime notifications.
  • Train and Support PMC personnel in Preventive Maintenance Instructions
  • Perform LOTO activities.
  • Root cause analysis on all manufacturing line equipment, to the component level. Report equipment findings during troubleshooting.
  • Generate, Submit, review, and/or approve ECOs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to manufacturing equipment.
  • Interface with external vendors for service, calibration, or purchasing equipment.
  • Identify critical parts, control equipment tools as well as costs.
  • Document and revise equipment details, drawings, BOM and PMC.
  • Design of experiments to determine the best parameters for equipment operation.
  • Create Equipment Qualification Protocols like IQOQ.
  • Active participant with other engineering groups in the implementation of equipment-related updates.
  • Report manufacturing equipment performance including equipment events, downtime, and issues.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or similar
  • Great attitude, eager, willing/able to take initiative, works well with others in a team environment.
  • Bilingual (English - Spanish)
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Tolerance analysis and statistical methods
  • English Advanced level, read, written, spoken
  • Demonstrated mechanical electronics aptitude
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation are a must
  • Knowledge and experience using special mechanical, electronics, and measuring equipment
  • 3D CAD proficiency, SolidWorks preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Maintenance, Equipment Engineering, Test, Mechatronic Engineering or similar
  • Able to travel periodically
  • Familiarity with regulated Quality Systems or medical device regulations, a plus
