Job Description

Position Summary

The Director of Global Logistics Inventory Control oversees the strategy, planning, and execution of all

inventory control activities for Intuitive Surgical. The role will manage and develop strategy for Global Inventory Control team which is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy levels globally. The role will drive execution of inventory control policies, priorities and initiatives that serve the goal of optimizing inventory control within operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive inventory management strategy for Global Warehousing / FG Logistics
  • Stock Control & Optimization: Manage forecasting and demand-planning processes using historical usage data. Implement cycle-count protocols to maintain >=95% inventory accuracy. Oversee returns and end-of-life disposals.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to FDA, Joint Commission, and other regulations. Partner with QA for audits and corrective actions.
  • Budgeting & Cost Management: Prepare and manage the annual inventory budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and examine total cost of ownership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives. Stay current on industry trends and emerging inventory technologies.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify and prioritize initiatives to optimize inventory capabilities and develop best inventory practices
  • Develops standards, metrics, and procedures that maximize inventory control efficiencies and adherence to compliance policies. Ability to create exception reporting and ability to absorb large amounts of data and summarize
  • Manages the inventory control team to develop and implement inventory tools and systems for tracking testing, auditing, and reporting
  • Ensures compliance to all regulatory rules and guidelines and industry best practices
  • Develops and mentors inventory control team through training and development opportunities and performance management processes; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
  • Manages digital transformation efforts within inventory control by implementing data-driven tools.
  • Partner with IT and Digital Transformation teams to integrate inventory data into enterprise-level dashboards for executive visibility
  • Drive adoption of mobile inventory management solutions and real-time reporting tools across global sites
  • Drive disposition on E&O and collaborating with finance on best in class processes for raw materials, WIP, FGI and returns

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent / MBA a plus
  • 10 + years related work experience in Inventory Control, Logistics, or related discipline
  • 7+ years of management experience Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Experience with Compliance policies and SOX controls, working with internal and external auditors –
  • Experience with SAP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Experience with upgrading ERP (SAP S/4HANA)and WMS processes are a plus
  • Time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and facilitating teams to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience and skills in influencing, leading and directing team members in multiple functional areas.
  • Proven relational and relationship management skills
  • Proven people leadership skills, especially coaching and communication skills and a proven track record in talent planning and development.

Key Required Skills, Knowledge, and Capabilities

  • Knowledge of Warehousing / Distribution Operations and processes
  • Ability to manage multiple cross functional and cross organizational projects
  • Bring extensive industry knowledge and demonstrated ability to influence at the Global Warehousing level
  • Experience implementing Global Inventory Control Processes and Strategies
  • Proven knowledge of identifying and implementing Key Performance indicators
  • Warehouse / distribution Process Improvement knowledge
  • Budget Experience / Tracking Actuals to Budget
  • Proven organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a team player, amenable to a variety of work projects.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Relational skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Travel up to 35%
  • English required
