Job Description
Primary Function of Position
This Senior Software Engineer will play a key role in the vision automation, test, and calibration software engineering team to enable the manufacturing of new vision systems for surgical robots. This position will be responsible for the design, development, release, deployment, documentation, and sustaining of software and algorithms for test and calibration of the vision systems of Multiport da Vinci systems. The position will require close collaboration with product development teams, systems analysts, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality engineers to build a coherent test and calibration strategy and develop software to implement the same.
Essential Job Duties
- Design, develop, release, deploy, and document software applications for the test and calibration of vision systems for Multiport da Vinci robotic systems.
- Integrate and implement image processing and closely related algorithms for test and calibration of vision systems.
- Work closely with system/embedded software team to create and maintain new APIs to support test and calibration.
- Build and maintain software infrastructures for rapid development of test and calibration fixtures.
- Understand each new product’s operation and control and develop the means to ensure their integrity in volume production.
- Strive to create software that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable in manufacturing new vision systems.
- Take ownership of manufacturing software and work with cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion.
- Write V&V protocols, lead V&V execution, and write V&V reports for equipment and processes.
- Leverage data acquisition to enable quality measurement tools such as SPC, Six Sigma, Cpk, and gauge R&R
- Lead cross-functional team projects focused on process and equipment development.
Qualifications
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years experience and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience
- Strong programming skills in C# (Python is also preferred)
- Understanding of OOA/OOD/OOP/Design Patterns
- Ability to map, develop, and test projects from inception to launch
- Proven ability to execute and deliver on projects
- Excellent ability to communicate complex concepts to engineers
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge and experience with MATLAB
- Experience in medical device manufacturing or regulated engineering environment
- Strong industry experience in architecture and development of scalable production quality systems
- Experience with cameras, image sensors, or image processing fundamentals
- Familiarity with regulated Quality Systems, especially medical device regulations

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.
Base Salary Range Region 1: $180.400 USD - $259.600 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $153.300 USD - $220.700 USD

Travel: 10% of the time
